Information & History[Jump to: ThieveryUT | Mockers | Death Mark | ATG | Upright Man | Rival Guilds] ThieveryUTThieveryUT is a total conversion of Unreal Tournament based on the Thief series by Looking Glass Studios. It is a multiplayer game, where teams of thieves attempt to complete a set of objectives unique to each map, while a team of guards seeks to stop them. Co-operative and Thief-match modes of play are also available, and the game can be played as a singleplayer challenge against sophisticated AI. One of the main strengths of the game lies in the incredible difference between the two play classes - Thief and Guard - which ensures that the game lends itself to many different play-styles and offers a great deal of replayability. Mockers Thievery GuildMockers Thievery Guild is a team of guildsmen who enjoy playing ThieveryUT at a high level in both public servers and guild wars (in such competitions as TurfWars, as well as practice matches). The Mockers are predominantly Australian-based, however international players are welcome to join our ranks. Admission to an international player makes them an honourary Australian. The name 'Mockers', as well as the guild structure and sayings such as "until the cat is skinned", have been adapted from Raymond Feists' fantasy world of Midkemia - where the legendary guild of thieves, the Mockers, operate under the iron fist of the Upright Man and his closest advisors from deep in the sewers of Krondor. The Mockers control the underworld of the city (literally) in the form of the sewers, as well as the thieves' highway on the rooftops, and freebooting thieves and other guilds are harshly dealt with - generally with the use of the bashers arm of the guild. Death MarkThe Death Mark is put upon other thieves (or guards), either freebooters or members of rival guilds, who have been involved in serious offences against the Mockers. In most cases the Death Mark is put upon individuals who deserve to suffer the consequences of their actions against the Mockers. In the event of this the entire guild, especially the bashers, hunt this individual to gain their revenge. In a very extreme case, we may undertake full-scale war against another guild (in any public server where we may encounter them), however this has not occurred in the history of the Mockers and probably never will. The Death Mark is collected by killing the named player with a sword or broadhead arrows. After that the Death Mark is declared collected and the hunting of that player ceases, to avoid ridiculous amounts of repetitive DMing of a single player. A screenshot of their death, along with the name of the Mocker who has claimed the Mark will be put in the Death Mark section of the Marks page. It is up to the individual Mocker claiming the Death Mark on the head of another player to decide whether or not he will formally announce their imminent death, or simply murder them. The method of killing will be noted (warning or no warning). In addition, it should be noted by those curious about the process (and those scared about their impending death) that there are strict rules regarding the collection of a Death Mark. To ensure that a player is not unduly harassed (despite his crimes against the guild), the player may only be confronted by a sword- or bow-wielding Mocker in a pre-meditated action once per map. Should the prey be successful in killing the Mocker, the challenge is over for that map and normal play will continue. Each Mocker in a server may choose to have an attempt individually. However, once the prey is killed no other Mocker will attack. For less serious offences, the bashers arm of the guild is called into action to pay the culprit a 'visit'. Those dealt with in this manner are noted in the Basher Mark list, also on the Marks page. ATG: Australian Thievery GuildMockers Thievery Guild began life as ATG, or the Australian Thievery Guild. Founded by shadow rodent, ATG was a natural gathering point for the many Australian players on public ThieveryUT servers (who all suffered from high ping times). Some of the original crew included shadow rodent, miss_c, elfoolio, and Yenzarill - three of whom are still in Mockers, the only exception being miss_c. It was then decided that ATG should become an international guild, and as a result, Mockers Thievery Guild was founded under Shug (at that time the Sagacious Man). Since the early days of ThieveryUT (beta 1.1), ATG and now M have been among the pioneering clans in the game - and that is where we intend to stay. As ThieveryUT gains a higher profile in the gaming community, we hope that the availability of more servers will lead to better quality games (especially better pings for our many Australian players), and thus an increase in the chances of playing a productive, successful and enjoyable clan prac or war. Indeed, the main reason ATG was not known for pracs and wars is the fact that, even if timezone issues can be worked out, ping times make it very hard to be competitive against American and European players. Hopefully with the advent of Mockers this situation will change. The reign of the Sagacious Man, Shug, is now over. Tell them... the
Upright Man is back. History will be updated with significant events in the future. Upright ManWho is the Upright Man? The Upright Man is the leader of Mockers Thievery Guild. His identity is one of the guild's most closely guarded secrets, and for this reason the Upright Man does not post on the TUT Boards or play on public servers under his real name. Because of the secrecy surrounding the Upright Man, he speaks through the other members of the guild (usually the Nightmaster or Nightwarden), and usually any direct communication will be answered by the most senior of the Mockers guildsmen, the Nightmaster - Rodent. Rival GuildsA number of rival guilds exist to challenge the supremacy of Mockers Thievery Guild in the never-ending TurfWar. They include: Council of Darkness FAG (Reborn) X |
